Privacy Policy
The short version. The app has no accounts and no logins, so we do not know who you are. It contains no student records of any kind. There is no advertising, no analytics profile, and no sale of data. The only things that leave your phone are an anonymous push token if you turn on alerts, AI chat messages if you explicitly opt in, and anonymous crash reports.
Who we are
Gateway Parents is the official mobile app for families of Gateway College Preparatory School in Georgetown, Texas, built and operated under contract with the school. It is a one-way information channel from the school to families: calendar events, announcements, resources, and optional push alerts.

What we do not collect
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or any information about students. The app has no login and no user accounts, so nothing in our systems is linked to your identity.
No student records, ever. The app contains no grades, attendance, schedules, student names, or any per-student information. This is an architectural property of the product rather than only a policy promise — the app has no mechanism to request or receive such data.
Push notifications (optional)
If you enable alerts, your device’s anonymous Expo push token and your chosen topics (for example “Closures” or “Athletics”) are stored in our database so the school can send you those alerts. The token identifies a device, not a person, and is not combined with any other data.
Disable notifications in Settings or uninstall the app and the token stops being used. Stale tokens are pruned automatically when delivery fails.
AI chat (“Ask gAItor”)
The Ask tab is an AI assistant for school-wide questions. It is off until you explicitly agree to an in-app disclosure, and you can revoke that consent at any time in Settings → gAItor & privacy.
- Messages you type are sent to Anthropic’s Claude model via Vercel AI Gatewaysolely to generate a response. The assistant can also look up the school’s public events, announcements, resources, and FAQs to answer you.
- Conversations are stored only on your device. School servers do not store your chats, and there is no server-side conversation history.
- Please do not include your child’s name or any personal student information in messages. The assistant has no access to student records and is instructed to refuse such questions.
- Every AI response includes a Report action that opens an email to the school so problematic responses can be reviewed.
Crash reporting
To keep the app reliable we use Sentry for anonymous crash and error reports: stack traces, device model, OS version, and app version. Personally identifying information is disabled and AI chat request contents are scrubbed from reports before they leave the device.

Children’s privacy
The app is intended for parents and guardians. It is not directed at children, contains no child-targeted content collection, and knowingly collects no information from children.
Data retention and deletion
- Push tokens persist until alerts are disabled, the app is uninstalled, or delivery permanently fails.
- AI chat conversations live only on your device. Delete them in the app — “New chat” archives locally, and Settings → Reset app data wipes everything — or by uninstalling.
- Crash reports follow Sentry’s standard retention.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the policy changes and note the new effective date. Material changes to AI data sharing will re-prompt for consent inside the app.
